The problem with the elections administration in Maryland is that we have allowed political actors to control the administration of our elections through the appointment process. Then we went further down the slope giving Linda Lamone the ability to remove her superiors, made it nearly impossible to fire her, and complete control over the state.
Every single aspect of our elections needs to be examined, from administration, to the voting machines, through the process of selecting the administrator. Personally I think we need to change all these aspects, go back to a decentralized system of administration rather then this monarch style we have now. Get a paper trail on the voting machines, and get rid of Diebold, that company has already wasted $70 million of taxpayer money. And make the elections administrator a non-partisan elected office with a two term limit.
After one year dealing with this issue on a daily basis I was shocked with the corruption I saw in the Board of Elections. I honestly feel that if the public knew what was going on in there, we would have riots in the streets of Annapolis.
