27th Annual Takoma Park Folk Festival will be held

The Board of Directors of the Takoma Park Folk Festival has announced that the festival will be held, as scheduled, on September 12, 2004, despite the loss of long-time chair Lenore Robinson.

"Missing Lenore has created a huge void in our community," said Kevin Adler, Folk Festival treasurer. "The volunteers on the Folk Festival’s committees hope that we can begin to close that hole a little bit by having an event worthy of Lenore’s legacy this year."

Festival organizers extend their appreciation to the hundreds of volunteers at past festivals, and they say thatºtheir need for volunteers has never been greater. The festival will have eight official stages this year–the largest ever–and several special on-site events. Newcomers are especially welcome to help with many pre-festival tasks this year.

The next two meetings of the Organizing Committee will be held on Thursday, May 13, and Tuesday, June 8.º Both will be at 7:30 in the Takoma Park Municipal Building at Maple and Philadelphia avenues.

For more information, go to the festival’s web site at www.tpff.org, or call 301-589-4008.
