What change would you like to see around here?

Caté Stokes: "There's a lot that I'd like to change. We've lost our community. I'd like to see the old Takoma Park back. We have too much traffic, too much drive-through traffic from East West Highway. People who don't live here come right through, flying. It was so much safer before. I'd like to have serenity and peace again in the neighborhood."

Alan Hall: "Storm drains. They need to keep them clean. When it rains hard they back up and flood." John Newsome: "We're having a lot of problems with storms and lights going out. We need to upgrade our electrical system. If there's a storm we're out of power for six days and it looks like we're the last people they get to."

Dave Stacy: "I wouldn't change anything in Old Town Takoma. I like it just the way it is. The changes I can think of, like street beautification and a new community center, are currently being done. I like the diversity, I like the people, I like the vibe. One thing is if people knew if the crosswalk button worked on Carroll at Laurel. I've seen some pretty close calls. The lights work fine, people just don't wait for the walk signal."

Ja Shia: "Fewer Bush-Cheney bumper stickers."

Sam Howard: "Less cars."

Nick Byron: "I'd like small parks to be bigger."

Drew Byron: "The lights at the Junction are messed up. When we skate to school it takes 5 minutes to cross, since they put in the light [at Sycamore]."

Louis DuLac: "We want a skate park!"

Danny Jones: "Yeah, a skate park and better lights are the main things."

Susan Benfield [with Matilda]: "I'd like to see them finish building the parking facilities in Silver Spring, so I can actually use all the cool things there. Matilda would like to change the leash laws — No more leashes!"

Sylvester Dumas: "More volunteers doing community work. I'm a fitness and wellness volunteer here at the YMCA. I want to see people helping out. What ever you're good at, try and share it. That's what I'm doing."

Shayna Solomon: "No more littering."

Nora Howard: "More stories by J.K. Rowling."

Natalie Behrends: "More festivals, more books in the library."

Sharyn Sazama-Moreau: "I'm really excited about changes in Silver Spring. It's like a whole new city. I'm just so happy that AFI and Discovery have come in and they've cleaned up downtown."

"What I'm disappointed in is the way they've drawn boundaries for schools — they've chopped up the community. I wish they'd rethink that from the standpoint of parents and children and not from outdated school board objectives."
