Features: Q— Photos and Inquiry by Julie Wiatt

What change would you like to see in the new year?

Chris Borbon: "I'd change the way some people be acting in the world. I'd stop violence. Like in L.A. a couple of weeks ago police killed a guy. As I said to my friend, if I killed that guy I'd be in jail, but the police got away with it. People should stop violence being on the street and learn how to treat each other."

Lisa Beaudet: "I think I'd like to see the Israelis and Palestinian governments follow the lead of their own people. There was a group in Geneva who were non-governmental representatives from Israel and Palestine and they hashed out all the hard questions and came to an agreement, and both governments were very upset. I think the governments should follow the lead of their own people and create peace in the region, especially now that Saddam Hussein is out. We could get us out of there too. That would be good, that would be real democracy."

Jeanita Danzik: "I'd like to see more people focusing on education. I'd like to see education made a bigger priority and people become keenly aware of the implications of neglecting whole pockets and populations of children. And I'd like for people to become more generous and empathic on behalf of the masses who have no voice and no advocate Ñ that's what I'd like to see."

Wayne Danzik: "This is an election year. I want a change in administration quite badly. This administration is an aberration. We have a regime that took power by shady means, we had a packed court, we had a state where the decision was made, owned by the candidate's brother. Now that regime is in power they have the keys to the treasury. They're trying to make devolutionary social change Ð sending us backward in time. They are enriching themselves at public expense and willing to send our country into war to settle a private grudge, so the son can finish job his daddy didn't finish. I want regime change this year."

Patty Hong: "I can't think of anything because there's so much and also so little. There's so much that needs changing but also I think it's good thing to just go through what we're faced with."

Elena Kim (with Nina): "At this point I'm pretty satisfied in my little world, if I don't look too much farther."

Brandon White: "I don't think I'd change anything. No, wait, I'd change the president. Who would be better? Brandon White."

Suran Balran: "I'm with him [Brandon]. That's a good one. Now he has two votes. And I'd definitely not have moved to Maryland. I'd stay in New York. Because it's boring here, there's nothing to do. All my friends are in New York. But I do like it here at the Y. You get to meet lots of people."

Patricia Cherry: "I'd change the world to be a better place for everyone, so that we could enhance the quality of everyone's life."
