What would be the greatest gift?

Tyrone Edwards: "If you could save someone's life, that would be the greatest gift Ñ donate an organ, give some blood. It would make you feel good too. It's the gift of sharing. It's what's in your heart that counts."

Kenneth Pridgen: "I feel the same way. Life is the greatest gift. Also, lots of people need understanding, someone you could talk to."

Alessandra Silver: "The greatest gift is for everyone to be doing something meaningful to them. Especially for people later in life, if they could look back and feel they had done something that mattered, that meant something. I hate the idea of people going through significant portions of their lives doing jobs just to be paying the rent, as opposed to looking back and knowing they did something they know mattered."

Tom Horne: "The greatest gift many folks can receive is your time. Giving them time, care, and some measure of love, a willingness to share of yourself rather than your resources, is often the hardest thing for people to do. It's easier to give money or something in lieu of money, but for many folks your time is more valuable than any thing you could give them."

Corinne Bell: "Right now, for me, a new CD player would be the greatest gift. I like all kinds of music."

Barbara Monahan (with Amelia): "For me, it's peace. I've lived in Africa and traveled around the world. We're so blessed to live here in the USA and Takoma Park and we take it for granted. Especially now, with the war in Iraq, peace would be the greatest gift. Who knows if we'll get it."

Matt Vinciguerra: "This book is a great gift. You can tell by the title Ñ The Gift: Poems by Hafiz. Open it to any page." [I opened it to "Life Starts Clapping / Wherever God lays His Glance, life starts clapping..."] "In this country the most popular poet, for spiritual poetry, is Rumi, but in the Middle East it's Hafiz. My knapsack is full of gifts of books and music. That's what knapsacks are for."

Reggie the Handy Man [who declined to be photographed]: "To be honest with you, the greatest gift would be that I could stop living outside. I'm homeless."
